Rebecca is a self-taught artist and lives and works in beautiful Kitimat BC. Her work is inspired by the beautiful forests, rivers, ocean and wildlife of the Pacific Northwest. Her paintings explore the relationships between humanity, wildlife and our natural world, inviting viewers to slow down and notice the quiet moments that often go unseen.
She primarily works in oil but also works with acrylics, pastels, watercolor and graphite. Her painting style creates an atmospheric realism that moves into storytelling and emotion with vibrant colors, light and brushstrokes that strive to create an emotional connection to the subjects of her paintings and the beauty of the world around us.
While her paintings are ultimately rooted in the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, they are ultimately about belonging and recognizing the strength, resilience and hope that exists within both our amazing planet and within ourselves.
Rebecca works in her home studio as an artist and therapeutic arts facilitator.
She has exhibited her work at the Kitimat Museum and Archives and has participated in community exhibits. Her current collection will be showing at the Terrace Art Gallery in September 2026.
Life on the coast of British Columbia takes me and my imagination away to some of the most beautiful places and is the inspiration behind my work. You will often find me exploring woodlands and forests, walking along beaches and shorelines, looking up at the skies, counting the stars, searching for meaning, entranced by the beauty of creation.
As I spend time meditating on the beautiful world around me, it has helped me to face the things in my life that have caused me so much pain - that have made me feel so alone.
Experiencing loss has been one of those great challenges. Immersing myself in the beauty all around me helps me to look deep within myself and to re-focus, to look at the bigger picture and the things in my life and in my future that are the most important.
With each piece I make, I try to capture a little of the enchantment that I see in everything that surrounds me, to express my passion for life and for learning all I can about the world around me. I don't view my time spent immersed in my art as an escape but as a journey. Through it and by means of it, I can explore another world, imagine an incredible future, tell an amazing story. It's a way for me to search for something greater than me, to grow as a human being and to learn to always stay grateful.
I hope you enjoy my artwork as much as I enjoy creating it.
