About Rebecca

I am a self-taught artist and live and work in beautiful Kitimat BC.  My work is inspired by the beautiful forests, rivers, ocean and wildlife of the Pacific Northwest. These beautiful landscapes inspire my paintings where I explore the relationships between humanity, wildlife and our natural world. I want to be able to capture the feeling when you are standing on the shoreline, looking out at the vast ocean or the immense gratitude standing beside the giant evergreens of our coastal rainforest. I most often paint landscapes of the Pacific Northwest but they are ultimately about belonging and recognizing the strength, resilience and hope that exists within both our amazing planet and within ourselves. I believe that we can learn lessons from the world around us and let it inspire our lives and our choices. I find myself searching for meaning and lessons that nature teaches us about strength, courage, resilience and hope. 

I am immensely honored to live in such a beautiful place, surrounded by ancient forests, a fierce and rugged ocean, lakes, rivers and rich wildlife that continues to stir my imagination and inspires me to keep painting. 

Immersing myself in the beauty all around me helps me to look deep within myself and to re-focus, to look at the bigger picture and the things in my life and in my future that are the most important. 

With each piece I make, I try to capture a little of the enchantment that I see in everything that surrounds me,  to express my passion for life and for learning all I can about the world around me. I don't view my time spent immersed in my art as an escape but as a journey. Through it and by means of it, I can explore another world, imagine an incredible future, tell an amazing story. It's a way for me to search for something greater than me, to grow as a human being and to learn to always stay grateful.
